He was pretty athletic as a teenager, but not that bright, from what I've heard. I beg to differ a little, though, because the interview he had about his friendship with Bruce Lee was candid.
I think it's his choice of roles and acting style that make him look cheesy. In any case, he hasn't done any real fighting, like the nearly bare fist mixed martial arts competitions. He was good at a young age in karate competitions (sport) where you're awarded a point if you just get close enough.
Edit... LOL, I didn't answer the question. I don't think he would do very good in the Hunger Games, because he hasn't demonstrated that he has a large skill set, which you would need for the games.
Source(s): I've been in many karate tournaments and seen all the B-grade action Chuck movies, and also suffered through some of the Walker Texas Ranger episodes just to see what it was all about. Turns out, it was all about self worship, just in the TV medium. Not surprised. He's one of those people where their reputation far exceeds their talent. This is why people make sarcastic jokes about him.
