In September 2006, a hurricane in the North Atlantic had a very long tail and was a lot further north than hurricanes usually are. As a result, it displaced the air around it, so the weather was about 1000 miles further north than usual and resulted in some very surreal changes. 21st September was 90f and sunshine as Britain had 'Mediterranean' air flows. Then the following day we had about 10mm of rain in 30 minutes as we sucked up the moisture from the Atlantic. Then on 23rd, it was back to being hot and sunny again.
