new version of mail doesnt have spell check etc in the basic version?
Once again mi yahoo mail switched to a new version by itself...I dont really want to switch at all but at least there was a choice to use "Basic" which is closer to the old version. My problem is that I cant find or figure out where Spell Check or the Fonts etc are that were right there on top in the old version???

You need the rich text formatting toolbar which is only available on the full featured Yahoo Mail. In other words, those features are not available in Basic.

I have lost all formatting as well and Yahoo no longer has any actual Help beyond this Communities forum. It's time to end Yahoo!
