I need a good way to keep track of my daily "mood"?

I've just started on my first antidepressant, and the woman who prescribed it asked me to keep track of how I feel everyday to make sure that they aren't making things worse than they were already. She suggested doing something like rating 1 to 10 (1 being the worst I've ever felt and 10 being like a "perfect ten" as she described it), but what if I rate one day a 1 or 10 and later on end up feeling worse/better than that?

I just feel like I need a better/easier way to go about it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

(Sorry if the category is off—I never know which ones to use)

Update:

Kristen-

Thanks, but I guess that's not what she wanted. I did tell her I already have a journal, but I think she wants something more simple and less personal.

Update 2:

ALSO, I need to start doing this tomorrow. I take my first pill tonight before I go to sleep.

First of all, try thinking of how you feel in ways that will differentiate between your body, your mind, and your mood. That is, what you physically feel ( I feel achey and my muscles feel tight); what your mind is experiencing (I'm thinking clearly, but I'm easily distracted); and what your mood is like (i'm feeling very purposeful, but also very anxious. And I'm cranky.)

Once you can discern the difference between these categories, you'll have a better grasp if your mood is being pushed around by your goals and expectations (mind), or by fatigue or body pain (body), and then in what degree becomes clearer. It's useful up to a point, and you don't want to obsess about it.

I keep a chart for my weight everyday, which I made using Microsoft Paint. It shows the day, the date, the time recorded, (a column for my weight) and a column each for brief notes on mind, body and mood. I've often thought to expand it to be a mood chart. And I try to define and name my moods so my notations will have some consistency and therefore have a mappable quality.

hi just write diown how you feel as a score. you dpnt really need a pill to feel better... doctors insist on them bc they get a commission but many people start feeling worse on pills, some feel better but natural methods like eating more healthy foods like fruits eg bananas and drinking more water work better and are side effect free... look up side effects of the pill and youll findmany so ive given you a better way to feel better

Keep a journal. Write down whatever your little heart desires, in the end when you reread it, you'll realize everything you were feeling or thinking that day will have came out on paper.

You could have coded colours eg- blue=sad

You could buy a little mood book thing that you change to show your mood, i have one and it really helps,

You can buy a mood flipchart here-http://www.johnlewis.com/daily-mood-calendar/p2312...
