just about BUYING trophies first.?

    The one is directly related to the other. The more money you earn, the more you get and can be reinvested for bigger profits.

    For example, look at Chelsea. Roman came and looked at the other clubs that had spent money for ages, and spent money. They outspent other clubs, but in a bigger view, just put Chelsea in the same bracket as the big clubs.

    They started winning trophies which earned more from TV rights, advertisements and what not, making him richer but by reinvesting again, he made the club richer.

    Now when I look at it, I think Manchester City would have been a better example. They handled their business much better and with a lot more tact.

    YES, it's all business nowadays.

    Players play for money, supporters support for inspiration or Entertainment to better their lives

    But sports isn't meant for money, Sports is meant to forge character, enrich values & nurture winning "champion" Mentality.

    Although rarely but we do find people like Giggs, Scholes etc who play for their ideologies, the character remains with them throughout their lifetimes.
