From the Hebrew meaning "beyond", "pass over; the other side". In the Old Testament, Ever was a descendant of Shem, son of Noah.
Check these sites for more information about the name Ever, some site say its American origin while another say its Scottish and Hebrew origin:

Ever is for Ever. Hope this helps.
Religion is not supposed to be cool, or confusing. But, uhhh.. oh yeah; Ever.
Ever.. I don't like it as as a name. But you should do it. Do it. Name your kid Ever. After a cave, related to religion. :). It won't hurt nothing. In the end it's cute. I'm just wondering will it grow with a child...??
For a middle name, no argument. I wish my middle name was Ever, If I wasn't me of course. I f'n love me. I'm called Orly.. with the r rolled latin style. Ever sounds kind of Nordic, that's why I like it. For a Nordic person, Hell yeah. Lie to me tell me you are Nordic and named Ever, I'd buy you a beer on that alone. Buy your adult child a beer. Ever is a drinking name.
