Cost for a transmission rebuild?

So I've built an engine for my 73 dart that will tear my current transmission to shreds if I get on the gas a bit too much. I have the transmission I want though, and it's sitting out of a car, how much would it cost to take it to a shop and have them rebuild it? It's a dodge 727 3 speed trans.

I know shops charge an arm and a leg if they have to remove it, rebuild it and then put it back, I'm just going to bring them the whole unit.

Have you ever heard of a telephone directory ("phone book")??? Also, there's this crazy new thing called "The Internet"! Both are excellent sources for getting the information you seek!

Seriously, you have to call local shops, simple as that. You fail to state where you are located. The quality of work, labor rates, overhead, etc. varies FAR too much to even guess. You might even find it's cheaper to ship it out to a high-volume transmission shop or Mopar specialist than having it done locally.
