Can my landlord randomly decide not to renew my lease without reason or probable cause?
I live in Ohio and my question is can my landlord give me a notice that they are expressing there right not to renew my lease? I have never been late on my rent and I have lived here for 7 years.

Unless there is some language in the lease that requires some conditional reasoning or proof of a criminal action, of course it's legal.
the point of a lease is to set a time limit for occupation and then negotiation for a continuation that either party can walk away from.

Yes. When your lease expires, your landlord can choose not to renew your lease. As wrong as it sounds, they don't have to give a reason either.
If you've lived there 7 years, however, and paid on time, it's probably something on the landlord's end of things. I do think you should try to find out - those 7 years of rental history are going to be the deciding factor in being approved for a new place for years to come. If the landlord does have a beef with you, you'll want to know why.
GOOD LUCK!

Unless you have some sort of wording in the lease, they should have the right to non-renew your lease. They could be preparing to move into that unit or remodel it and go for a higher price, totally legal.

Of course they can choose not to renew the lease for their own reasons having nothing to do with you as a tenant.

Either party to a contract can terminate the contract at any time. If the termination allegedly violates some provision of the contract, then the other party gets to decide if there are "damages" worth pursuing.
A property owner generally has no legal obligation to rent the property to anyone at any time, let alone to some specific person.

Yes, of course they can. You can never force someone to rent their property to you, just the same as the LL cannot force you to renew your lease.

Of course they can. The lease expires and they can do whatever they want. Maybe they need to sell the property or they want to tear it down and build something else. There is an advantage to owning your own home.

Yes, he can.
Renting only guarantees you a roof over your head until your lease expires as long as the rent is paid on time.

I'm afraid so. Just as you could choose not to renew. That's why contracts have a beginning and an end.
Good luck.
