Do you agree with Denmark that animals rights come before religion?

They have brought in a ban on the religious slaughter of animals for the production of halal and kosher meat.

Update:

They are basically saying "European regulations require animals to be stunned before they are slaughtered, but grants exemptions on religious grounds. For meat to be considered kosher under Jewish law or halal under Islamic law, the animal must be conscious when killed." Apparently when the animal is killed without being stunned first it can take anything from a few seconds up to 2 minutes for the animal to die, it also feels like they are drowning while they are dying. So it is not as humane as previously made out.

Religion is complete nonsense. Why show reverence for complete nonsense?

I'm danish and I didn't even know that. Sounds good to me.

Btw all the nonsense about that giraffe Marius got way too much attention (I guess what u just asked is something u picked from BBC after the 'giraffe.slaughter' happened). Just the fact that the zoo didn't want it to live elsewhere since it would be bad for him, just tells how much we want the best for our animals in general.

Well God comes first but we need to take care of his creation. This could be debated many ways. But people are more important than animals. Animals should be taken care of and inhuman ways are wrong!!! it is misuse of Gods blessings

    First of all

my account here is being hacked into.

someone can actually answer and post

questions. I am trying to keep up with

    deleting some.

    Religion is man made.

The Universe and Holy Bible were God made and breathed.

Human life comes before any animal.

If I had to run over any animal in a vehicle, even our pets, to

save a human life I would obliterate the animal.

What would you do if there was no food, but this same animal

you find, it has meat, and you can cook that meat to save your

life cause you are starving. You would eat that animal in a heartbeat.

I love animals, but they are not above man. We have dominion over

all creatures. We whould not abuse them, but a Cow, for meat, that

is what he is there for.

Why don't you have a Cow as a pet, in your home?

    Of course,

it is totally inhumane to kill living beings

and non-violence is the greatest spiritual and religious virtue.

One can never gain spiritually or religiously by killing someone else.

I don't think religions should be granted

any sort of special privileges or exemptions.

    Animals should be slaughtered

in the most humane way possible,

    without subjecting them to any

    unnecessary brutality or suffering.

If the religious don't like it,

they don't have to eat it.

In fact, considering religions' history of bizarre rituals

and cruel, sadistic sacrifices involving animals,

    I don't think they've earned a say

    in this particular conversation..

I think both are very important and have a place in a modern healthy society

Most people from Denmark are protestant despite people seeming to think the opposite

Very much so. Mind you, I think that washing the car is more important than religion.

  • Well Denmark is the happiest country in the world. This might be one of many reasons why.

I think that denmark is right. Animals shouldn't be tortured.

Since animals exist, I have to say yes.
