There is at least one company that offers something like what you're talking about and it's called Celebration Cruise Line. On their website they talk about a 2 night cruise on the ship along with a 2, 4, or 6 night stay at the Grand Lucayan Beach Resort. I don't think their ships are of the quality with typical cruise lines but you're just catching a ride over mostly and not spending a week or more at sea so I think it would be fine.

By 2 night cruiseI assume they mean one night on the ship going and one night on it coming back is how they come up with the 2 nights on the ship. Here is a link to the page of their website that is about this type of package http://www.celebrationcl.com/Our-Lucaya-Celebratio...

They also have a service that is a ferry ride back and forth to the Bahamas. That way you can catch a ride over and arrange your own place to stay etc. But they also offer ferry/hotel packages. You won't really be on a cruise this way but you will get to travel across the ocean instead of flying. This may be a good option for you as well so you might want to explore this idea some. Here is a link to that part of their business http://www.ferryexpress.com/wps/portal/comercial/h...

And here is a link to a blog I found about someone's experience with the ferry service. It looks like a pretty good option. http://planetlippstone.com/2012/06/07/who-knew-a-f...

Good luck and I hope this is helpful!

Unfortunately, Gerd is correct! We wanted to cruise to a destination, stay a few days and catch a ship back to port so that we could spend a few extra days in one of our favorite ports but still enjoy a couple others. The only option we had was to purchase 2 closed loop cruises. For us, financially, it just made more sense to fly. If you're totally against flying then the price may be worth it to you. Keep in mind that if you choose to fly or pay for 2 cruises and spend a few days, you WILL need a passport.

That's not what cruise ships do. Essentially you are looking for one way passage. Considering that the Bahamas are only around 55 miles from Miami, you would probably do better to charter a boat to take you.

Try calling local ship yards and ocean transport companies and asking if they will book passengers. It isn't as nice as a cruise ship, but you wouldn't be on it very long.

Only if you pay for two closed-loop cruises. Cruise ship companies do not offer one-way travel or a weeks stop ..

In theory, yes. But you would essentially be booking two seperate cruises and therefore paying double
