Difference between CBR600RR vs CBR650F?

I have read the specs in both so you don't have to tell me the obvious. I am wondering if there is a price difference in insurance.

The MSRP is about $3k apart.

And why does the honda site not give a price for the CB1000R?

thanks...

Update:

excuse me Tom, they are both inline 4's

The F saddles upright in a more comfortable riding position.as opposed to the rr that lays you on the tank.

Insurance wise the F would be less costly as the riding position is more conducive to safe everyday riding.

There are also some performance differences but you can see them in the spec comparisons.

Edit I didn't look at the spec sheets but sometimes they don't post horsepower ratings, you have to google that separately but worth doing

So you read the spec sheet, but don't know the difference? Or do you just not know enough about motorcycle specs to realize the difference. There is nothing wrong if that is the case. I am a fairly new rider, and it took me a bit to figure it out too.

The biggest difference is the engine. While the displacement is only 50cc different, don't let that make you believe they are barely different engines. The 650 is a 2 cylinder, while the 600 is a 4 cylinder. You will read that as a twin versus a quad or a twin vs an inline 4. Basically said, the 600cc while less displacement, is a LOT more powerful.

The other difference is riding position. Since RR's are basically racing bikes with license plates, it has a very aggressive stance. Your feet are back, knees are down, arms are forward, and you are basically laying on the tank. The 650, 750, 1000, etc are all what I would call a "standard sport." It is a very comfortable stance.I would say your chest is probably at a 70-80 degree angle with the ground, as opposed to probably a 40-50 degree of a 600cc RR.

Take the Kawasaki sport bikes for instance. The Ninja 650 has around 71-73 horsepower depending on year. The Ninja ZX-6R has around 113 horsepower. So even though the displacement is 50cc lower on the 600cc bike, it has almost 40 more horsepower due to the inline 4 over a twin. That is HUGE.

So obviously insurance is going to spike when you go to a street legal racing bike over a "standard" bike.

About 3000 dollars, 25 HP and a bunch in insurance.

CB1000r because it won't be available in the US. There is no US price.

Actually Tom C, both are inline 4's as of 2014. The biggest differences are the curb weight, the 600 being lighter by 50lbs, compression ratio: 600 with a 12:2:1 vs the 650s 11:4:1, and the BHP 600 w/118 and the 650 only producing 87.

Other than that the points you made in your answer are spot on.
