Why are people suddenly answering their own questions in Yahoo! Answers?
Just this week I noticed a number of people posting "answers" to their own questions. They were actually comments.
Until then I saw such things usually posted as comments under the question.
Why is it now looking like they answered themselves?
Is this is a new feature? A glitch not previously possible with the previous interface?
I viewed such a comment. But there are 113 comments / bugs reported, all in one group that's months old. Not helpful for tracking. What a mess.
Wonder where THIS comment will go. Either where it belongs, or in Answers.
I have written code before. I know this was a glitch, but I've had my sarcastic comments reported before, too many times, and deleted because someone didn't like what I posted. "New feature", "glitch not previously possible" -- bugs because Yahoo Answers team doesn't have enough helpful debuggers / testing / coding time allocated.
I found out from the Yahoo Answers - Suggestions area that this was by design. 8-( Not an official answer, but someone seemed to know more than we do.

It's a glitch. At least ... it had BETTER be a glitch!
Those are actually 'Additional Details', which are for some reason showing up in the answers rather than as an 'add' to the question. It does appear as if the asker is able to answer his/her own question.
And yes ... that's been happening just within the past several days, and seems to happen randomly. In most cases, the 'Additional Details' show up where they should (below the question), but sometimes they post as an answer. Very strange.
There's a thread on the suggestion board (under the gear icon, top right) about it if you'd like to read what others have said and/or add your comment there.

There are two issues here. One is a glitch and one is not a glitch.
One that added details show up as answers not added details is not a glitch.
When you ask a question on mobile the add details is now Answer instead.
It does not happen to everyone.
This is the team reply about that in an email...........There is a new feature which allows users to be able to answer questions (they don't get points and can't award themselves BA). This is designed to allow users to answer their question if they source the answer from an alternative source.
The same Community Guidelines apply though and posting comments which doesn't answer the question can be reported.

The other is that on a mobile a question could be asked and then on a desktop they can answer that question, give it a thumbs up and chose it as best answer get 10 points and 1 for the thumbs up.
That one is a Glitch and will be fixed to stop it being abused.
This is what the Y!A team had to say about that in an email......."yes unfortunately this was a bug, using the combination of sites and old format (the settings weren't changed for the old format) you could do that. We are working on it and it should be restricted today/tomorrow."
