What has happened to the Contact Lists. I see the lists on my contact page but I cannot add anyone to them?

I went into my Contacts to send out a message to one of my group lists and saw that some members needed to be added. I successfully added them as contacts but when I went to Assign to Lists at the

top of the page and the pop up window came up with my list of lists. I chose the particular list that I wished and clicked on it (none of the little squares next to the choices has a check mark, or fill in or anything else that shows that the click is registered) and then clicked on DONE. A little spinning

wheel showed up saying Saving Changes. Then the pop-up went away and I was back to the

newly created contact page.

I left that page and then went back to my list only to find that the new contact was not saved there at all. I tried several times. I went in and out of the program and switched browsers. Nothing made any difference. The contact is added to my Contact main list but I cannot attach it to the particular

group list that I wish.

What is the problem? (I had not attempted any edits since all the recent changes over the last 6 months so I presume that this is a bug related to those)
