What does an estimated expected family contribution with six numbers mean?
When I finished my FAFSA, it said my EFC was 005171. Does that mean I will get some kind of aid? My mother makes around 60,000+, sometimes it's 70,000 but she gets a high amount of tax taken out with every paycheck and our bills are expensive.
I thought the EFC was supposed to be five digits long. I'm worried that there was some kind of error or something.

You will need to wait and see. You are reading too much into things.

No, you don't need to wait and see. Your EFC is $5171. That means that based on the federal calculation method, you and your family are expected to contribute $5171 toward the overall cost of your education during the next school year. That is relatively low and you will qualify for, at least, subsidized student loans.
