If Russia had invaded Ukraine 3 months earlier, would you have favored an Olympic boycott?

Why or why not?

Update:

The Beat: Thanks for your response. Do you have an answer to the question?

Update 2:

Flower, thanks for your answer. So an ally of the government of Ukrain attacked Russia and killed Russian civilians on Russian soil? So Ukraine was in violation of a UN Resolution, sponsored terrorists and flouted international law? So a coalition of democracies joined Russia in their invasion? So once Russia's interests are protected, they will leave Ukraine and let Ukraine's democratically elected government decide what is right for Crimea?

Um, I was against the Iraq War, but I would say there are a few key differences here.

Yes. Vladimir Putin is a very proud man, and it would have hurt him quite a bit to have everyone reject him. It wasn't worth using that power against a bad law that doesn't affect anyone outside Russia, but an invasion, just as in 1980, would have definitely been grounds.

The simple fact that most people favored their own nation's Nationalism over opposing sending athletes to a place where women are beaten by truncheons for creating music and journalists are murdered for reporting news says all that needs to be said. If you honestly needed the only other country in this planet that has invaded as many places in the last century as our own to invade another one before you stepped back and said, "hey this place is kinda despotic," then... shut the **** up.

I'd have favored an Olympic boycott well before this. Just looking at the rate of eating disorders among figure skaters and gymnasts alone should make all of us wonder if our nationalism is really worth the cost when the payout is just a felt necklace with a gold pendant on the end of it.

Did Russia boycott America when America invaded, attacked and occupied Afghanistan and Iraq for over 10 years? No, it left America alone and even helped with Afghanistan.

Russia knows what they are doing. They have to go to Crimea and Ukraine to protect their interests like the U.S. protects its interests everywhere.
