It's jaundice and foods don't treat it. It's sunshine, light therapy or transfusion...depending on the underlying cause.

A very dear friend of mine had jaundice a few years ago.

His diet, though a little simple, got him completely through it in no time .... here it is.

Jaundice is easily taken care of when it comes to the diet one should follow.

DO NOT Boil or Use Tap Water or Well Water. The escaping steam is the pure and distilled water.

The water remaining in the pot/bowl may be bacteria-free, but always remember:

Boiling water does not dissipate or neutralize the heavier-than-water chemicals and

substances that will be residing in the 'remaining' water.

In essence, all of the bad stuff is still in there.

    We Don't Want That.

Clear liquids: Distilled Water or Spring Water (as water, or for soup & tea),

Vegetable Juice(s) mixed w/water if preferred, Soup (broth), -- and 'some' Tea at first.

Meats: Soft, *thoroughly cooked* & tender chicken (broth too),

*thoroughly cooked* & tender beef (crock-pot, broth too).

    'Soft' Vegetables = O.K.

NO PORK PRODUCTS -- and, NO Aspirin, Tylenol, or Prescriptions unless cleared by your Doctor.

Avoid Artificial Sweeteners -- "Sugar In The Raw" = O.K.

No dairy, No complex or heavy carbohydrates (toast & saltless crackers = O.K.),

No regularly prepared meat(s) for the first 15-20 days, and when meat consumption is resumed --

again, cook e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g thoroughly for the first two weeks.

When the "All Clear" is given, cooking preferences can then resume.

These are the basics, and they will help immensely.

*(Along with one bangin' appetite when it's over!)
