how does the post office trace a money order?
1 of my money orders got lost in the mail, so I had the post office trace it or track it, whatever they call it. So I was wondering, how exactly do they track it down? How long should I expect to wait for an answer from them?

When it is presented for payment, they get notice of whom presented it and where and when.
They start from there.

They check if has been cashed and if not can put a stop payment order on it just like regular checks. Expect to wait what they consider a reasonable length of time.
