best canned dog food for small dogs?
Can someone pls. tell me what a good wet small canned dog food would be for my 11 pound mixed breed. He needs weight management as he loves to eat and gets sick if he doesn't. Dry foods I have tried are no use, he throws up! I know everyone swears by their own foods for dogs but, I would like to get some info. on a medium priced food that I can feed my dog 3 to 4 times a day without worry of weight gain. IS THERE SUCH A THING?? Thank you in advance.

If your dog vomits after eating kibble, I highly suggest you see your vet about this.
As for canned foods, I have been working with some puppies lately who have megaesophagus, and have to have canned food (I prefer kibble for my own dogs). They eat food by Nature's Variety, which I'm pretty happy with. They make a weight control formula as well:

They also have a chicken formula, if your dog doesn't do well with salmon.
To help save some money, as well as get some of the benefits of dry kibble, you could try mixing the canned and kibble half and half. See if the dog handles that any better.

Dry food is better for dogs than wet food -- in which you're paying for water at a high price and dry food cleans your dog's teeth better.

Then get the best you can afford. If you switch your dog’s brand of food, do it gradually over a week's time, every day adding a little bit more of the new and subtracting an equal portion of the old until it’s all new. A sudden switch can give your dog an upset tummy and diarrhea.

You should buy small dog food because of many reasons. One reason is that the large dog food might not have enough nutrients for the small dog or might have to much. Another reason is because the large dog food will be to big for the small dog and it might choke on it.
