So, if Putin gets his Anschluss with the Ukraine, what should we do?
The situation is eerily similar. Hitler took Austria, then the Czechs, then the Slovaks. It wasn't until he moved into Poland that there was war.
So do we let him have the Crimea, and hope he doesn't take the rest of the Ukraine, then Belarus or Lithuania? With the way we have squandered our national wealth in Iraq and Afghanistan is there anything the USA can do?
Never mind Republican or Democrat here. This is a serious world crisis here and none of them are any smarter than you are. Tell me what YOU think we can do.
All the Russians are out defending their Leader, but what have the rest of you got to say?

I think this is different than the events preceding WW2. Germany had a goal of domination in Europe. Russia is acting to regain the power and influence of the USSR. It is more a political chess match than a violent precursor to total war. For decades the US and Russia were considered co-equal super-powers, but since the mid-nineties, we have run away with the 'contest'. Putin is definitely not alone in his wish to regain the old glory. All we have to do is anticipate the next move on the board, and not over-react. Over-reacting or under-reacting will play into their hands. I feel pretty good about our position. I heard Boehner talk about "strengthening Obama's hand" in this battle. So while all the talking heads can continue the left-right mudslinging, the real members of government are working together. That is a good sign. Be optimistic.

I don't see a guy bent on world conquest, but a guy who realizes the Americans have broken ever single agreement they made during Glasnost, and taking precautions against the further creep of U.S. global hegemony into his own country. Any man that did not do that would not be a leader of his people, but a sock puppet for U.S. led globalist imperialism.
Putin is in Crimea for no less justification than the U.S. entered Korea, Vietnam, or various South American countries.
Globalism has replaced communism as the creeping global ideological poison.
