Is this a good idea for yahoo?

There are probably hundreds of questions in voting that have no answers to vote on. How about republishing about one hundred per day in a special category to be voted on. If no one votes on them, delete them.

That would be great ...BUT ..to get them off the site would require a No Best Answer vote and honestly most users won't do things on here unless they get points.

The biggest joke of all on this site is the so called Database of Knowledge...It is a disgrace what is on there and some of that is from users not voting No Best Answer but instead voting a crappy answer just to get that 1 point.

Some very bad stuff in that database.

This has always been a problem with the database. They have never created a sweeper to go back and delete these questions. Back when they had a larger staff, they would go to certain categories and clean them out (one by one), but with the current staff, that really does not happen. Your idea is problematic since there would be no answer to vote for since there are no answers. For questions just stuck in voting, there are several groups that do vote on old questions, the biggest being Tie-Busters.

I'd like a section to resolve Tie Breakers... I probably have a good dozen or so in a Tie Breaker situation that I want to be resolved one way or the other. If people would vote for the best answer, no matter if I win or lose, at least these questions would finally have a resolution.

    Cheers

if a question has no answers, there is nothing to vote on therefore your suggestion is redundant - perhaps you meant that have no votes on answers?

a bug causes these Qs that should have been deleted automatically to remain in the In Voting lists but Yahoo never fixes this (once in a rare while, they clear them out of some categories)

as for questions that do have answers - there are currently 10 million questions that are stuck in Tiebreakers (one of your other answerers has given you the link to TieBusters)

however, with new questions pouring in every second, and already hundreds of thousands of questions freshly added to the In Voting lists, to put ones that are already in the list in a separate list won't make any difference

if people are interested in voting, it is usually on newer questions and that is why so many old Qs will not be resolved

what would help is if we got more than one lousy point for voting - getting two points would encourage more people to vote

I have to agree with SCT Henry, additional info - this is the link to the Tiebusters group...

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Yah00AnswersTie... - this used to be the link before the many changes, now it is this one:

    https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Yah00AnswersTi...

I'm giving you both links since I don't know which one will work for your system.
