Why are some men such pigs?
Why are some men so chauvanistic? I work with someone who makes me so angry.
1. When responding to someone's question about not having to bring food in tomorrow he retorts "yes Mrs Ingleby (his wife) won't have to make my lunch tomorrow".
2. I have had to repeat several times that I do not enjoy sport but keep being hounded with questions such as "did you watch the game last night?" and "what did you think of the game last night?".
3. When responding to a question about what tipple I enjoy and responding "lager", he responds "but you're a woman - don't women like wine!".
4. He constantly makes reference to "taking the boys" somewhere. He also has daughters but never mentions them.

I don't really understand why the first scenario makes you angry. Many wives don't actually mind making lunch for their husband, some even enjoy it, and there is nothing chauvinistic about that.
As for number 2, that is a common trait among sports lovers, girls and guys a like. They talk about sports to anybody even if you insist that you don't watch sports. The only thing you can do is to walk away and pretend you didn't hear them. If you can't walk away, just don't listen to them and act as if you are too busy.
As for three, yes, that was an ignorant comment to make, but you could've easily thought of something to say back to him on the spot.
And finally, there's nothing wrong with saying "taking the boys." A lot of people, mothers and fathers, call their sons, "the boys."
It's obvious that you don't like this guy (I probably would find him annoying, too), but I think you are being a bit too nit picky about everything he says and does.

I don't think this is chauvinism so much as the fact that this guy just doesn't sound very bright.
There are a lot of men of who like to call their wives "Mrs. so-and-so" because they think it sounds polite to refer to their wives formally, not because they are sexist. And because this person is a bit on the stupid side, he's not registering your lack of interest in sports. His comment about women and wine IS a bit sexist, but not egregiously so. He's just dumb.
And you really have no call to complain about his references to taking his sons somewhere. He's not required to mention his daughters in order to convince you that he's not sexist.
Your post is itself very sexist. Think about that.
