Ants baked into dog food. Anyone ever have this problem? I don't have ants in my room. I check constantly.?

I have a problem with a new bag of food. I had been watching it for weeks now. I do not have ants in my bedroom. I rent a room and I have my little dog. We've never had this problem until now. I buy our dog food from the vet. I put the food out, and the ants are crawling OUT of the food, not onto the food from the outside. Now...the strange thing. When I see the ants under the food (not crawling all over it, and only seeing a 8 or 9) I squish them. (sorry for those who are sensitive to that...but not in my house.) and then they're gone. Randomly as I feed her they appear. Some days none show up, and then other days I'll see a couple..then I saw it. Crawling out of the food. What the heck?

Has this ever happened to anyone else???? It's kinda blowing my mind here. Please only pleasant people need reply. I'm a nice person, and would not appreciate any sarcastic or mean comments.

Thanks.

B.

Update:

Not sure how to respond to you guys. (thanks for responding so quickly). The part I forgot to mention is that this food is $45 a bag, and I'm on a fixed income. The vet didn't make the dog food, so I don't think they would be responsible. I think the company that manufactures the food is. I just don't know how to prove it. The ants are not on the bag or inside the bag. They are actually inside the food.

(PS: How do I respond to your answers? I don't see a reply button or anything.)

its just a case of making more ammendments to your question for replies on here as far as i can tell. were i you, i'd ring the vets and explain the situation, ask if they will refer to the manufacturers. there may be a debate as to whether the vets or the manufacturers caused the problem by poor storage, but if yours is the only recalled bag, they might say theres nothing they're willing to do, which would be a great shame for such a pricey product that's obviously meant to last. unfortunately two friends of mine and myself have purchased wet food (i usually feed dry too but my old dog couldn't chew it well enough before he passed on) from a very prestigious brand, which contained maggots. thankfully the shop refunded my friends, but there was no way i was taking those things in my car back to the supermarket. not very nice, you have my sympathies

Just get a different food? Ants aren't going to harm your dogs, but aren't you a bit skeptical of your vet now?

I would call the vet you are getting the food from and ask if they have an ant issue.
