Approximately how much does it cost to have tubes put in an infant's ear?
My son was told by his ex that it cost $10,700. That seems expensive to me

It's pretty stunningly expensive. Although if that was listed as the amount after insurance pays? Then I'd call BS.
However, if I were your son? I would first insist on allergy testing on the infant. Because here's the thing - it's not NORMAL to need tubes in a child's ears. so if something is going on that requires this? Then the doctor's focus should be to find out WHY, as well as treating the symptoms. And most that I've met do not.
Allergies are something that can cause this type of congestion. There could be other things, instead, but tubes were something that many allergic children I know of had when they were young, before they were diagnosed.
It might be worth exploring.

Any surgery isn't cheap! I had back surgery, 9 hours and the bill with came
very close to 50 thousand. Then there is a bill from the anesthesiologist. all
tools, surgical wipes, wraps, even band aids are expensive in a hospital. Nurses
have to be paid for their care. There are always extra people in a surgery room. not just the surgeon. Do you even realize how intricate this surgery is, and how
tiny the ears of a baby is on the inside. These tubes have to be placed just in
one tiny spot in the ear. My surgery was 17 years ago so it was cheap compared to today's prices.
