Do you sound the same when you record yourself?

I heard myself on WeChat and I sound awful!! My voice is just so terrible! It doesnt sound like me at all :(

    my voice is mellifluous only while singing in shower. otherwise as my sis says, i am donkey and neighbours look like a horse in a race-start field

    First time ever i heard my voice on a recording i was in denial for weeks and weeks,, this is not me i said.

    Yes, no matter what I record myself on I always sound horrible also. So, no you are not the only one who goes through this.

    Sure your voice won't sound like you hear it but i was the same all you have to do is keep hearing yourself until you are used to it

    well i've left recorded messages and when i checked back before confirming them i didnt feel bad... i sounded pretty serious though
