Why was Japan so excited to be the host of the 2020 Olympics?
Why were the Japanese so excited when they found out that the 2020 Olympics were going to be held in Tokyo? I mean, this was an excitement that carried over onto their media, such as dramas, TV shows, and even anime. Were other countries that excited in the past as well?

yeah its a great honor to hold the olympics also it has shown that most countries after holding the olympics have prospered better

All countries that hold a celebration of the Summer, Winter and Youth Olympics / Paralympics are very excited about holding them. Take us in the United Kingdom in 2012, for those seven glorious weeks we, a normal reserved country, filled practically every single venue with Union Jacks and the like.

I wouldn't say it helps all country's who host it, the country we held in this year is actually opposite, pretty sure no one wants to go there after all the hate it's getting right now.
