New Employee McDonalds!!!!!!!!!?

Just got a job at McDonalds, had to do 2 interviews but they said I was good to go, go back in for a day orientation and stuff on Wednesday.

Curious now that I have a job, how much will I need to move out on my own and live by myself, tired of living under the parents.

Depends on where you are. Here's what you need to do.

Check your newspaper to see how much an apartment would cost, in the area you prefer. Do some research to see what is covered, as far as utilities. You will need to consider gas and electricity; water is normally covered by the landlord.

Do you have a vehicle? Do you need a vehicle? If you don't need one, you'll need cash to cover whatever transportation you will need. If you have a car, you will be paying for gas, upkeep, and insurance, perhaps to park it.

Food: you need to handle that somehow, daily. You could figure out how much it would cost if you ate every meal at McD's, just for a line in the sand, as you might not want to do that, but you need to figure out something. Granted you'll probably do mac & cheese or some cereal at home, but that's groceries.

And you have no new clothes. Sooner or later, things wear out. Figure out how well you need to look, and set aside some cash for that.

That right there is basic cost of independence. If you are in school, you need to figure out tuition and books, but that's about all the costs you need to cover. I'd crack out a spreadsheet and figure out if you can do it. There's other possibilities, like if you are sharing an apartment with a friend, and that will help some, but not handle all your costs.
