How should I ask this girl?

I would like to ask this girl to my group's formal that is held in Vegas. I don't really know her that well but we talked and took a picture before and I know her best friend really well. I was thinking of doing a scavenger hunt that will lead her to me and a couple guys serenading and with me holding flowers and a sign that's says WILL YOU GO TO FORMAL WITH ME? But I'm open to other suggestions. What should I do?
