Is nvidia system information wrong?
when I check the the system information under nvidia control panel
it shows
total graphics memory to be 4gigs
dedicated graphics memory to be 2gigs
but i have 8 gb ram installed and a 2gb gt640 graphic card, I recently changed from 4gb ram to 8gb (was 4 gb when the nvidia graphics drivers were installed)
in computer properties it shows 8 gb however.
is there something wrong with the nvidia information.

No. What do you expect? Should it be using ALL 8 GB? If so you had better fit more as that would leave NOTHING to run the system on.
