Why would it be televised, except to satisfy the purient interests of strangers. It won't be televised to prevent it from being even more sensationalised than it is. Most Canadian judges don't want cameras in the court room because they are distracting.

Canada's motto is Peace, Order and Good Government.
Because of this, Canadian murder trials aren't three ring circus acts like in the US justice system.
If you want to get your jollies watching a murder trial, head down to the US.
Americans can't get enough of murdering each other so their courtrooms are always packed with killers.
