MY 2001 Chevy Malibu's warning bells have started coming on after I start the car and accelerate. No warning?

lights and the bells go right back off until I stop and restart. Also today I noticed the car seemed to drag when I accelerated and the bells went off. Then everything was fine again. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Update:

Nothing lights up as far as "check engine" or anything like that, just the bell. I can check the oil and the oil is fine.

My guess is the "Check Engine" light is coming on. It usually is there to alert you to something wrong with the engine. I suggest that you learn how to check your oil using the owner's manual that you can download from this website free of charge. If you can not do this, ask a friend at work or a neighbor to help you out. Ignoring the bells and lights in a modern car could be the death knell for it.
