What state? Most states don't register guns and the couple states that do register AK-47s do not allow sales of AKs anymore as they have been recently banned in those states. If registration is required, firing it makes no difference, OWNING IT IS ILLEGAL, as was the sale. Generally illegal gun possession is a felony.

I suggest you determine if your state registers long guns or has an "assault weapon" law, before doing anything with it in public. Examples where AKs are banned (unless it was registered), include NY, MA, MD, CT, and CA.

you WILL NOT have a problem at the range. It is probably just registered for warrenty purposes in his name for that brand. I dont think we have to register our rifles... YET

It is part that the Bill of Rights says not to infringe upon, the government is infringing. ANT JUDGE that allows an infringement on any of our constitutional rights should be impeached.
