What is Privately followed and Publicly followed. Is the option of Watched list withdrawn?

Earlier the option of Watched list was available, where I could save interesting questions I wanted to anwer in my free time. It is not appearing now. Is that replaced by publicly / privately followed options. What is the significance of these ?

Follow Privately is your Watchlist now..

Follow Publicly is like the old Starring.

Adding something to your watchlist is now done by clicking the star beside a question.

You can access your watchlist by clicking MyAnswers under your profile data on the home page http://answers.yahoo.com/ and then My Followed Questions and then Privately followed on that dropdown.

The Watchlist has been replaced with the "Privately following" option. The "Publicly following" is what used to be the "Starred" list.

It is another way to make people spend more time and clicks making choices that really don't matter. If you star a question, what's the point of it being private and nobody else seeing it to follow and answer it too.. if they choose?

I am still using the old format and like just giving a star without a fight.

nothing has changed except what it's called

Follow Publicly = give the Q a star

Follow Privately = put on your Watchlist

if you click on Follow privately after hovering your mouse over the grey star at the end of someone's question

if you click on Follow publicly, it does not go on your list of Qs you are following but everyone can see that someone gave that Q a star in the questions list

the star turns yellow when you do this

in your Answers Home page, at the far right of the toolbar that has Everything Recommended Recent Popular, hover the mouse to see the drop down menu

    click on My Followed Questions

it will show Publicly Followed at the far right whether you have any in there or not

hover the mouse over this and Privately Followed appears - click on that

a lot of tedious steps replacing a single click on the Watchlist tab in the old green format...sigh...

to remove a Q from your list without clicking on it to open the link so you can hover the mouse over the now yellow star and click on Unfollow, you can hover the mouse over the far right of the link in your list and Unfollow icon appears - click on that to remove the link

    ====================

"what's the point of it being private"

no, it's not private - you have the option of making it show up in the link of the questions list in the link next to the star symbol - it shows how MANY but not who starred it

if you want it to show, you click Follow publicly

if you want to have it on what was your Watchlist, you click Follow privately
