Short derealization episodes help!?
Okay, so I'm 17 and I smoke weed usually a couple of times a month, but not a regular occurrence.
BUT I sometimes suffer from short episodes of derealization, i don't think there is any link to the pot smoking because the episodes aren't when I smoke it.. The episodes usually last a couple of seconds each. It'll just be like I've forgotten everything, and then 5 seconds later my memory is back and everything's okay again... It's really weird
It doesn't happen all the time either, it's not like everyday, sometimes i'll go weeks without it happening and then i'll have an episode, and sometimes when I think about not having a an episode for a while it'll bring me back into episode.
I really don't want to see anyone about this, I just want to help myself, since I think I can sort it all out because I have done it so far. But If it gets worse I will go and get help, but I just want it to stop because I am starting to get freaked out when it happens
Thanks guys!!

Ya - it's kind of common actually. these episodes have various names like "fragmentation". There is a sudden sense of "realization" - like you just woke up in somebody else's body. Have fun with it if you can.
This happens because the barrier between your conscious and unconscious mind has been weakened - and some of the unconscious energy "leaks" in - it's kind of dreamlike - and you snap back to consciousness.
It's at least "normal" stuff - it isn't some "mental illness" or anything like that. It causes some people a bunch of anxiety - and some people it doesn't bother much. But just be assured that you aren't "crazy" or "going crazy" or anything like that.
This happens to plenty of people who don't smoke marijuana too - so it doesn't really have anything to do with smoking dope. But dope does seem to bring it on sooner. It's part of the "normal" development of your conscious mind - but, as I say, it can sure scare some people a lot.
