Defense does exist in the NBA but it varies between the teams. Some teams play straight up man to man and help on drives or help on the superstars. There are also defense who play heding defense when there are picks. Most notable of hedging defense is against the Warriors when Stephen Curry has the ball so then it stops Curry from shooting the three. Defense is evolving in a way that they play the percentages of a player making a shot. The defense that teams are taught to play now is icing the pick and roll in which the player guarding the ball handler forces him away from the pick and the defender of the pick man sinks to contain the drive. This gives up the mid range shot which is the worst percentage shot therefore it works most of the time.

yes it does just as much as college basketball..They do slack off from time to time. But you also have to understand their range in the nba is deep. Most players only need a inch to get it off..and the space they make off the dribble. Its almost impossible to guard someone in the nba without them being able to get a shot off. Its not like college basketball smaller court...lesser players on the floor. Everyone is dangerous in the NBA.. To guard someone with that much space between u and the rim is almost impossible not to be beat off the dribble. Then u have to dbl and that causes problems. You have to understand in the nba its the best players in the world. Meaning mostly the best offensive and atheltic. They grew up practicing there shots dribbling, They didnt practice defense at the gym u play that and learn things in practice. Defense is not taught, u dont just get better at defense...and on the otherside of that its alot harder to guard someone than it is to score on someone. cuz they make the first move u just follow. or try and beat them to the spot...not to mention once they hit the nba they practice twice as much cuz they get paid to do that now.

    Definitely yes

It's pretty rare these days, but the Bulls, Grizzlies, Nets, and Clippers are all playing pretty good defense right now, the rest of the teams are just average or just plain terrible at it.
