Do you think goal keepers are underrated?
I think that they are. In a game the point is to score and stop your opponents scoring. Both of them things are equally important. But when a striker scores they get the applause of the entire stadium and do a little victory lap. But when a GK stops the oppo scoring they just get up and carry on with no applause or victory lap. I know its the GK job to do that but its also the strikers job to score as well, so why is the reaction from the fans so different. Also any other player in the squad, when they're sold go for a bigger price than the GK. I'm going to be controversial here but this is just my opinion I think the GK has the hardest job and I respect the GK more than any other player. I was just wondering if anyone agrees with me that they don't get enough recognition and go unnoticed in games

Its true that attackers get more credit than they deserve. Unfortunately, defensive players and keepers don't get that much credit or will they be ranked as one of the best players in the world. Its mostly attacking players that are considered the best, its attacking players that gets more money and have all their publicity.
I think the main point of the game is to score goals and attacking players do that which is why they get the credit they deserve compared to defensive players and keepers.
I can say goalkeeper is the most difficult position in the field.

Now, I feel sorry for those mascots who have to wander around the pitch for 15 mins at half time even if it's boiling hot. They're the real ones who don't get enough support..

The Goalkeeper is the most important player on the pitch... end of story
if he wasn't there, there wouldn't be a game of football simple as that.

It's just like in American football. The defense does not get crap for what they do and the offense, especially the qb, gets all the credit.
