TIPS now banned via Yahoo News and Law?
I am seeing more and more about TIPs being banned. When do you think this will go through and finally be a illegal thing to do? I personally do not go to resturants because I don't like the fact I have to tip regardless if service was just regular. Now I do TIP at Taco Bell and McDonalds but not at resturants because those I feel forced to and I don't like being forced.
There is a couple stories on yahoo saying that they are pushing to make it illegal which means resturants will have up their wages to 8 dollars an hour. How do you all feel about that?

Many countries in the world, Japan and New Zealand for example, do not have the custom of tipping. They pay their restaurant workers decent wages.
Since millions of people in the USA are accustomed to tipping, restaurants would have to post signs on the walls and large-print notices in the menus saying "We pay well above minimum wages to all our employees", "Tipping is no longer legal", and "Our servers are not permitted to accept tips". You can imagine how that would affect the atmosphere of a high-end restaurant.
There would still be die-hards who would try to sneak tips to their favorite servers, but that would get the servers in trouble.
If you have any good ideas about how to suppress the custom of tipping, go on a campaign. Write letters to the editors of newspapers and influential magazines, see if you can get onto talk shows and stir up some nationwide controversy.
Until things change, if you don't tip, you're doomed to dine in a different restaurant every time, or else stick to fast food joints. Servers have long memories about customers who don't leave tips.

I have decided that I am no longer going to tip servers, they are making minimum wage where I live and the skills required to carry a plate from a kitchen to a table are negligible.

If restaurant owners are forced to increase their staff's salary, who do you think is going to offset that? You, and every other person who patronizes restaurants.
That $8 burger and fries and Coke is now $12, and you're getting shitty service because there's now no incentive for your server to NOT treat you like sh!t.
