NBA 2K14 help: Why do my free throws say "too early" everytime I play team up on Xbox one?

I have been playing team up for about 3 years now on NBA 2K and recently bought the xbox one, the new Xbox one NBA 2K14 has to be the worst team-up version iv'e ever seen. First off there are no leader-boards, secondly every time I shoot a free throw it says too early, even with good free throw shooters, and shooters that I have used many times in the past (Jeff Green,KD, etc). Is there something I am missing here? Is there a lag that I have to accommodate for? because when I play, the games aren't necessarily laggy (same as always, tons of lag at the timeouts and halftimes but nowhere else). Also I feel like the jump shots themselves have become impossible to hit, I used to knock down jumpers all day with guys like Kyle Korver and Jerryd Bayless , but no it is impossible to finish even the most trivial of jump shots. I just shot 13% from the line with Jeff Green which should not be happening. Any help with any and all of these questions would be greatly appreciated.
