It is a battle of civilizations, when absolute majority citizens of Ukraine don't want to be a part of EU and move to side of Russia, while a smaller part of forcibly is trying to join the EU and move to side of Europe. Of course, the US, NATO and EU don't want to hear about opinion of absolute majority.

By the way, the population of Ukrane decreased by 2.5 million people in one day. it is an indicator that the Ukrainians do not want to live in a country with pro-western power..

Five millions of Ukrainians work in Russia and 70% of Ukrainians have friends and relatives in Russia.

So, 5-7 millions citizens of Ukrane can't dictate terms to 33 millions other Ukrainians.

    Do you agree?

Q: "Why Ukraine so important to US...?"

    A: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3679/13034365913_3ca...

=> the same reason other countries of the former Eastern Block were "important"... despite the fact that some decades ago George Bush and James Baker promised that NATO will not expand one inch to the East.

We've seen the absolute opposite of what they've promised, while diligently carrying out our part of Agreement (Gorbachev, Bush).

Q: Why Ukraine so important to Russia?

A: it's about tens of millions of Ukr-Rus families divided by borders and mutually beneficial economic relations. We are one family and we don't & can't be apart. => Russia is important to Ukraine as well. Let alone EU.

Q: "The country is broke, why would either give billiions of dollars?"

A: how "moral and ethical"... And some representatives of the Western "paradise" are accusing us of being materialistic.

The country ("Ukraine") is robbed. Our gold reserve has been stolen to the U.S. (Fed). So essentially we owe you nothing, it's vice versa. But now your media is going to brainwash you into thinking, that you're "helping" us with loans, which we will be obliged to pay off. With huge % of course.

Thanks for showing us your "tolerant/democratic face" (again)... and for all the "delights" of a pauper existence.

It has borders with Russia. Think that US has an airforce in Ukraine!

Secondly, I would use "United Companies" rather than US because United States government is not governed by US citizens, it is actually governed by some corporations and bank owners. I'm saying this because no any American give a damn about Ukraine as it's not the US' bussiness.

Secondly, Russia wants to keep it's own authority in Ukraine because if Ukraine joins the EU or NATO, most of the military force of NATO will be deployed in there, and that would be a huge problem for Russian Military.

For the Americans it's important because they want to circle Russia and have it under their control. For their Russians it's important for their sovereignty and freedom.

Ukraine is one of the largest countries in Europe, with 46 million people and an enormous agricultural economy. Although a Russian secret agent (Viktor Yanukovych) bankrupted the state's finances in a bid to make Ukraine forever subservient to Moscow, Ukrainian people have always wanted to be a part of the West. Economists say that with sufficient anti-corruption measures and structural reforms, the Ukrainian economy could rival France's!

In other words, Ukraine has enormous economic potential, and Ukrainian people are European in spirit. It is natural that Ukraine be a part of the European Union and a Western nation.
