is the AK 74 as reliable as the AK 47? also witch is more accurate?

From what I have been able to find the AK-74 is every bit as reliable as the AK-47, and more accurate. AK-47's weren't known for being accurate once you got out of close range.
If anyone has better info, please contribute.

The AK-74 I gave my son is deadly at 400 meters with iron sights.
