So scared that I have tss?

I wore a tampon for 9 hours last night and I wore another tampon this afternoon for 5 hours. After dinner I started having a tummy ache. I ate alot of cheese so that might be it.... Later I had diarrhea and I feel really nauseous right now. My parents aren't home, and I'm alone with my sister. It's nighttime and I can't sleep because I'm so scared. Should I wait next morning? I'm really scared of dying... I don't know what to do.

Please help?

    You don't have TSS.

Symptoms vary from person to person and depending on which organs are effected, but in ALL cases of TSS victims experience a sudden high fever and low blood pressure - this is because TSS is essentially similar to septic shock - for the record you do not get a rash immediately. Nausea and loose bowel movements may be due to menstruation or dietary, no reason to think that this is TSS. To get an idea of how TSS presents in real life see the real life stories on the following web site; http://www.you-are-loved.org/

Make sure you change tampons more often next time - tampons need to be changed every 4-6 hours, the longer you leave tampons the longer you allow bacteria to multiply so the higher the risks of TSS and vaginal infections like BV, also if you can go over 4-6 hours without leaking you're using too high an absorbency which also increases risks of TSS significantly. If concerned about TSS you might want to consider safer options such as menstrual cups or softcups, these can be worn for up to 12 hours with any flow and unlike tampons there's no need to alternate with pads or switch to pads overnight.

I think everyone who has used a tampon has had this fear at some point or another. You do not have TSS - if you got a rash instantly, developed a fever, and had involvement of THREE or more organ systems, you would have reason to worry, but you are totally fine. It's not uncommon to be nauseous or have diarrhea on your period.

Wearing tampons is an experience. Your always super paranoid its stuck, it'll get stuck, you have tss, so I say sleep on it and if you feel ill in the morning tell someone to take you to emergency but I couldn't imagine that being the case. You may just be worked up, relax. Good luck.
