In case you still haven't found a way to add emojis if you have your phone synced to your google account log in to your gmail account on your browser make sure you're on the desktop version go to your contacts and edit it from there

My phone updated and now I can't use the emojis when editing a contact. Its really irritating me lol. Did anyone else's phone update again and then it worked?

I just figured this out idk if you still need help or not but if you go to a text message and put the emojis you want to add to the persons name there then copy them and paste them in edit Contact mode next to the name. It's a little more work but you can add them still. Hope that helps!

I cannot attach an emoji to my text message, it is not an option. It goes straight to photo gallery. Help!!

I had the same problem..go to this webiste getemoji.com you can copy and then paste emoji into contact....works. hope i helped =)
