Do I need to cover strawberry plants?
So I have some strawberry plant outside by my window but it's supposed to freeze tonight. My mom said I should cover them with a towel to help them not freeze. Should I do that? Is there a better way to keep them from freezing? They're established plants, not just starts and have a few berries starting to grow. Do they need to be covered?

One of the biggest mistakes people make when its going to freeze is they don't water their plants thoroughly before hand.If the soil is dry then it pulls away from the roots creating air spaces which can damage the roots of any plant established or not . Since you say they have some berries already , I assume you live in a warmer climate. It is especially important for those of us in warmer areas of the country to be sure our plants are well watered before a late season frost. ALL plants benefit from a good layer of mulch whether it be natural or store bought. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
