Oil life monitor? When to change oil?
I usually follow the 3 months or 3,000 miles but I also know that usually your oil life can last longer than 3,000 miles but just curious how low can my oil life monitor get when its time to change the oil. I usually wait till I hit around 25-30% oil left. Is it okay to wait till the life monitor gets lower? Thanks.

Oil life depends on more than simply mileage. Late model oil life monitors track how many cold starts you do, how long the drives, whether you're in stop and go traffic, and how much load you put on the engine. The software is very sophisticated.
Read this post on when to change oil and ignore answers that simply say, 3,000 miles is bunk. It's more complicated than that.

You will get many different answers but an average vehicle will be fine if you change it every 7500 miles. Just for the heck of it, I had an older (late 90's) beater car that I drove for 30,000 miles on regular "cheap" oil...not a single problem at all.

you change your oil like the owners manual says.
3000 mile oil changes are a waste of money.
new cars can go 6500 to 10,000 miles between oil changes.
