Sony Vegas help! My clips are connected, how do I unconnect them?

This never happened before, so I don't know what I did that made SV connect my video files together,

It's NOT the one where the clip and its audio is connected. It's the video files that are connected. When I move one file left or right, the clips who are after it move with it too.

I don't press anything when I move the clips and I tried going to the "Options" button, but nothing there seemed to work.

Do you know how to fix this problem?

    Yes it should be pretty easy. Just remember a new SV lingo for sticking & unsticking. It's called grouping & un-grouping.

    Now up at the top, look for the little icon of a white arrow. when you waive your cursor over it - it should say "selection edit tool." (Your normal editing tool is usually the vertical black bar.) But for now, let's go to this arrow icon, so you can select what you want to un-stick.

    Now select with this new tool in use now, with your cursor, highlight all the video's sticking together using the left click button held down while waiving over the clips you wish to un-stick.

    Similar to how you would highlight most windows based actions (like in Word)

    Now that all of your clips that are stuck together are highlighted, put your cursor back into the timeline & RIGHT CLICK.

    Now locate the GROUP & put your cursor there then select “Remove from.”

    DONE!

    Now check to see if it worked, by going back up at the top where you found the white arrow "selection" tool & return to your normal editing tool (the black vertical bar)

    Now move the clips around & see they should be unstuck.

    The shortcuts to sticking “grouping” & unsticking “un-grouping” them. Is this:

    Up at the top, select the white arrow.

    Highlight clips in the timeline by holding down left click mouse button along with moving the cursor over all clips you choose.

    To STICK them together: hold down (on the keyboard) the CTRL key along with the letter G “Group” (stick)

    To UNSTICK them, do the same, but hold down CTRL key with the letter U “Ungroup” (unstick)

    Always return to the “Normal” editing tool to have control over moving the clips around.

    --------

    STICK = selection tool>Highlight clips>CTRL G

    UNSTICK = selection tool>Highlight clips>CTRL U

    return to "Normal editing tool."

    --------

    Vuwala!

    I hope this helped :0)

    PS – You must have been in the middle of doing something near that area where you group/ungroup & accidentally clicked it but didn’t notice anything right away & by the time you did notice, had no idea how or when it happened.

    Also, near most every action you will notice there's a shortcut showing, start paying attention to this, Most all have a letter to select with holding down the CTRL key. When you get used to using shortcuts, you will become speedier at getting projects completed & can take on more & more advanced projects. What once took you half a day can be done in an hour.

    PS2 – When you have large projects, it’s very convenient to “group” together some clips you get just perfect & don’t want to accidentally have them move, by say forgetting you had the auto ripple selected that made your video’s slide over when moving a video you intended to move. It bonds perfect clips you work hard to get synchronized perfectly. When you make them with fades, transitions & particular edits, it’s wonderful to use this to stick them together. (& of course un-stick at will in an instant)

    PS3 hope my long answer didn't drive you nuts.
