Do therapists absolutely HAVE to tell parents about certain things?

I'm 14 and not doing so great in life right now.. If I told my therapist things such as me self harming and my suicide attemps.. Would she have to tell my parents? Or is it confidential..?

If your therapist thought you were in immediate danger, she would tell your parents. Personally, I think I would ask her what she is required by law to tell them as that can vary from state to state. Past things that you may have done, probably not so much. It's the stuff you might do that concerns them.

they have to keep thing confidential if u are over 16. u are 14 so they will probably discus things with your parents if nessasary
