Can I stop taking the pill before the end of the packet?

I'm 5 pills away from finishing the packet. If I stop taking them now and have my 7 day break then carry on will that be ok?

Update:

I have not had sex in over a week and am not planning on have sex while I'm not taking the pill

No, actually, you do need to take them correctly (which means taking all the active pills, in order) if you want protection against pregnancy. If you're hoping to change the dates of your period you can skip the placebo week and start the next pack a week early. You may have some weird spotting or other symptoms depending on your body and the particular pills you are taking.

When in doubt read the directions.
