Can you put a 5.0 V8 in a 3.8 V6 Mustang?
I've got a 1995 Mustang with a 3.8L fuuel Injected V6 in it right now. I was wondering if it'd be possible to swap that out for a 5.0L V8? If not a 5.0, because I know there was something about them not passing emissions, how about a 4.6L V8?
What would I need to change in order to put a V8 in?
I'm not going to trade in my Mustang because it holds a certain value to me.
Thank you for everyone who commented something that I could work with.

If you have enough knowledge, money and mechanical skills, then anything is possible. If you have to ask on THIS forum, you probably don't have any of that.

It is not as hard as the other commenters make it sound. You will need new engine mounts and a new computer, sure but neither is hard to change out (you'll need a cherry picker, but that can be rented.
You will want to do further research to find out if anything else needs to be changed. It is quite possible that you will need bigger brakes since you have a heavier car. You will not have to change the transmission, but you might choose to anyway since you already have the engine out. You will have to change the exhaust.
None of this is all that expensive for a 1995 Mustang since you could easily pick up a lot of the parts from a junk yard off a wrecked V8 (engine mounts, computer, exhaust, etc) or can easily buy after market upgrades anyway.
An even easier way to do it would be to find a V8 Mustang of the same body style which was rear ended, But the entire front subframe including engine, which unbolts from the unibody. Then you just have to remove the front clip from your car, unbolt your subrame, bolt on the new one, bolt the engine to the tranny, hook up any wires, and of course swap the computer and exhaust.

with a lot of work and money yes....though if you're thinking about swapping a V6 for a V8 it would be cheaper and easier to just sell the V6 and buy the V8 in the long run....especially if you have limited to no mechanical knowledge

Jet DOc is RIGHT! Why not TRADE your fine STANG for a different one equipped the way YOU want it to be! If yoi have not noticed, there is a GLUT of cars EVERYWHERE. ALL KINDS and YEARS out there! YOu can even take your V^ and SUPERCHARGE It if you want to> TRAD+_ups within ONE CAR COMPANY get you the best deal. You lose a bit of fuel mileage but who cares, right! TRY TESTING OUT a newer mustang with the GERMAN engineers V^ that makes 305 HP! IT is the BEST of both world! TONS of torque and power, and 31 MPG on highway. ROCK STABLE in bad weather, too. Your current V6 is even capable of more power! CHeck out FORD HIGH PERFORMANCE division parts. FORD< unlike GM< will never lose divisions to bankruptcy court! They never had a BAD ENGINE or TRANS in their entire history that did NOT make it to at least 100k miles, and many get to 350k miles. The 3.8 even was refined with time and perfected! THEY ARE VULNERABLE to bad COOLING FAN SWITCHES that can cause head gasket issues! GOOD LUCK!.

American Muscle has the engine and computer to do the swap. And there are shops that will do all the work for you. Install will be about $1,000. Engine and kit will be 6-7 grand

If you are determined to do the swap, buy a V8 parts car. Then you have everything you need.

if you are looking for a summer and winter job unless you are a master mechanic and a master mechanic tool box. it will fit, possible rewelding on the motor mounts, different transmission mounts. you are looking for a big job and what you are going to gain you should go buy one
