Effectively a business is paying a sum to have their brand logo prominently displayed during the event. Red Bull is strongly associated with off road and X game sort of events.
Direct marketing may target a specific demographic determined to be more likely to but than the general public more broad advertising reaches.
Newspaper and phonebook advertising as entire generations ignore then, getting their information from the internet instead.
Some internet advertising can target specific interest groups as well as deliver followup advertisements to interested parties through retargeting.
