How can i get my Huawei EC1705 usb modem to work w/ Linux Mint 16?

I'm transferring from Windows XP to Linux Mint 16 but when i enter my usb modem its not recognized in any way, i did a little searching and Cricket says the modems doesn't support Linux,is there anything i can do?

    if it's a USB modem there is nothing you can do , if it has a network ethernet socket it can connect without a driver
