I need information from Muslims?

Please note this is for information only, I'm not interested in stupid remarks from those of another or no faith. I know perfectly well that alcohol is forbideen to Muslims, but what of a dish that is cooked using wine ? Cooking destroys alcohol very quickly, leaving only the flavour of wine, so would such a dish be permissible for a Muslim ?

You are actually mistaken about alcohol being forbidden to Muslims: http://www.free-minds.org/alcohol-quran

Yes, the Quran warns against praying when drunk, for example, but it doesn't prohibit alcohol at all, the way it prohibits pork, for example. And even the warning is against being drunk, which you won't be from merely a wine-flavored dish.

That decision on not to eating it would be up to the person eating it.

A lot of my family go overboard and won't touch alcoholic anythings, but I don't go along with that whole crap, as long as I don't get drunk, there's no harm in drinking alcohol to me.

So basically depending on the Muslim, is whether or not they would drink cooking wines, I think the cooking wine is one hell of a lot less strong as far as the alcohol it contains, and yeah, alcohol does evaporate when cooked, so there wouldn't be any alcohol there, so I think it would be okay, but some would stubbornly say they wouldn't drink it.

I don't follow what any preachers say is haram or halal, I read the qu'ran and make my own decisions.

Hi there. Yes you are absolutely correct. Alcohol used in any format is totaly forbidden for muslim. Therefore anything contaminated with it will also be forbidden i.e flavourings etc. That includes any dish that is cooked using wine will not be permissible.

The Quran prohibits things that can intoxicate you such as alcohol and drugs. If you eat/drink food containing alcohol without knowing then it is not a sin. However if you eat/drink it intentionally then it is considered wrong and a sin.

Alcohol is haram because it removes god consciousness and loss of control.

Slight misconception there, dry heat for long enough on alcohol will allow it to evaporate, but if you put wine in a casserole for example and covered it with a lid then cooked it on a low temperature, the alcohol would still be present. As for muslims, I'll leave that for them to answer.

Like any question of this nature, it depends which Muslims you ask.

But since you're after information, let me give you some first hand words of experience.

Where I work, we had an exchange with about 40 guys from Saudi.

Within 24 hours of being in the UK, they were eating bacon, drinking alcohol, asking taxis to take them to brothels, (of which there weren't any) harassing unmarried women in bars and clubs, doormen had to get involved to save them, etc.

Then, when I went over to Saudi, I learned of their commonplace practice of non virgin women going across to Bahrain to have their hymen sewn back up so as to appear as virgins on their wedding night consummation.

Google it if anyone doesn't believe me.

I've tried not to judge, but I am unable not to.

    1. there are two types of alcohol. if the alcohol is in the food naturally then it is fine like most of the fruits like grape they have a very small amount of alcohol which is fine!!!

2.If you add alcohol yourself it is not natural and it makes the food Haram.

3.if you have eaten food that after eating it you noticed by taste or the cook then that is fine that you are no sin but if you are aware of that and eat then you are doing sin.

4.Consumption of alcoholic beverages is not Haram just because of alcohol in it. there must be other reasons that science has not proved it so your logic of alcohol evaporates will not be true. If you want to taste your food just add red vinegar or grape juice or lemon!!

5.To get more accurate answeres, yahoo answers is not a good place. If you are shia or sunni just refer to your clergies and ask them online. especially shia will always bring scientific reasons too as well as verses of quran and hadith! or refer to sunni mufis and ask them they are answering nicely too.

All vegetable food contains some alcohol in at least trace amounts.

Why would Allah put a totally forbidden substance in all vegetable food?

    Wine is haram in Islam.

    That rhymes.

    Haram means it's not permissible.
